Death Note Live Action Movie: In Cinemas in 8 East Asian Nations Near You June 12, 2006

Posted by Lupus in Manga, News.

Saw it here.

Death Note Live Action Movie is probably old news, but this is exciting nonetheless. Not only is it screening in Japan in a week, it’ll also be coming to a cinema near you if you live in one of these lucky places:

  • Taiwan
  • Korea
  • Thailand
  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia
  • Singapore
  • Hong Kong
  • Not only that, but according to the article, many film publishing firms in Europe are also negotiating to bring the movie to the West, so those lucky Euros might also get this movie in their cinemas. Australia as always is gonna get jiped. BUT, with the power of digital distribution, I’ll still get to watch this movie anyway! Ah, blessed internet and hard working fan-subbers.

Now let’s just pray no Hollywood smart-ass director gets the idea to remake this movie.

Amen to that, with one tiny exception. If Joss Whedon gets ahold of Death Note, I’ll probably line up the theatre.

Oh yeah Joss Whedon… I wouldn’t mind him directing it. But I’d rather see a second season of Firefly than anything else.

Oh my gosh, I was just about to post about this. I love the manga, and I really hope that I can check ou t the movie! Whoohoo!

It’s only a matter of time before it’s available through digital online media distribution. Meanwhile read the manga again, or go check out some reviews!

I love the manga im up to vol. 5 and so far its great when i heard of a live action movie i thought “this isn’t good” but the trailer looks good so i hope it gets subbed soon.

I really hope Hollywood remakes this movie. It’ll be like Japanese Ring -> American Ring. American Ring being superior of course. Hopefully the American Deathnote can follow in its path.

The American Ring wasn’t superior at all. It tried too hard to make the entire darn thing scientific… and it was created for people who need instant gratification to be satisfied with a movie. The Japanese original was much, much better.

    J: I hope you’re being sarcastic.
